A road leading to the gates of "Karbala" in Karari, where the shia graveyard is located and the place for juloos & matam that takes place on ashura

Karari has a historical background of origin of shias and Moharrum azadari.
About 350 - 400 years back, one gentleman who was a syed shia-isna-ashri and a devout muslim with noble qualities from the desendants of "Imam Raza (A.S)" by name "Syed Hisamuddin Shah Sabzwari" came down from Sabzwar, Iran to India and settled down. Syed Hisamuddin Shah Sabzwari was under the service of king as a commander-in-chief of the army in Sabzawar, Iran. He travelled all the way from Sabzawar, Iran to Indian peninsula along with his family members, clan, followers & his army. As the journey was long and tiring, he stopped in a jungle sorrounded by lakes. He set the hunting dogs to know the geography of the land and to his surprise the hunting dogs came back chased by Hares. Upon seeing the sitution, he named the place as "Karari" meaning "Hard" in farsi (persian langauge) and ordered his followers, clans and family members to establish a settlement there as he was impressed with the place. Soon the clearing was made in the jungle and tents were erected. A new settlement arose. The Moharrum azadari was also establised in the same era. Today the town is continued to be know as "Karari" and the azadari is continuing to take place.
Interestingly the desendants of "Syed Hisamuddin Shah Sabzwari" are living in Karari even today. They have spread out all over U.P, Bombay, Bangalore, Gulf countries, Europe and USA. Many famous aalim-deens have born in Karari and are still living across the world. One such famous name who has roots in Karari was "Moulan Syed Najmul Hasan Kararvi" who is renowned scholar the world over for his religious book "Chaudha Sitara" (14 stars). There are numerous aalim-deen from Karari from the desendants of Syed Hisamuddin Shah Sabzwari like Moulana Syed Mazhar-ul Abbas Rizvi Najafi who is a vakil of Ayathullah Seestani, Moulana Jawadi, Moulana Zoharqain etc. Many aalim-deen from Karari are born in Karari and educated in Najaf -al ashraf, Iraq under famous Ulemas like Ayathullah Mohsin al Hakim, Ayathullah Khooei, Ayathullah Khomeini etc.
Moulana Syed Mazhar-ul Abbas Rizvi Najafi was a student and vakil of Ayathulla Mohsin al Hakim, Ayathullah Khooei, Ayathulla Khomeini etc. Interestingly Moulana Syed Mazhar-ul Abbas Rizvi Najafi was a classmate of Ayathulla Seestani and he is the vakil of Ayathullah Seestani in India currently.
